HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — (May 8, 2006) — SeaBright Insurance Co. and Llorente SIU worked together to convict Oscar Gomez of workers’ compensation fraud.

Gomez was convicted of insurance fraud in the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, and sentenced to 180 days in the county jail.  The jail time was stayed pending successful completion of three years of felony probation, 10 hours of community service and payment of restitution in the amount of $26,275.

“This is a significant success in our fight against fraud,” said Richard Seelinger, Senior Vice President of policyholder services for SeaBright Insurance Co.  “This conviction demonstrates SeaBright’s commitment to protecting the interests of our policyholders.”

SeaBright and Llorente collaborated on the case.  Llorente SIU handled the referral package and worked with Sylvia Tenorio of the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office to ultimately convict Gomez.
